Don’s road to becoming a published author is a testament to perseverance. He started writing his autobiography, One Foot On The Podium, shortly after the Sydney Paralympics in 2000. It took 14 years to finish, but readers reckon it’s worth the wait. Critics gave it the thumbs up too, with Don scoring a silver medal for the Best Regional Non-Fiction release at the Independent Publisher Book Awards in 2016. Don’s second book, One Foot Beyond The Podium, followed in 2018 receiving just as much love as his debut.
